Alan Peacock, started working in 1980. Now I'm 57. I went into automotive repair and at one time held master certifications in General Motors, Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, and Hyundai, all of which have expired now. In 2007, I changed careers and took a pay cut, starting in granular agricultural application while working for Marvin Scruggs of Scruggs Equipment, in the building I'm in now. This is where I met Sherry Everhart, who was his number one parts employee. I came into this industry at the perfect time as the controllers for running spreaders were being phased out, and new GPS controllers were replacing them. While building these units for Scruggs Equipment, I learned the new controllers but also had to learn the old ones too—best of both worlds. I took every class offered hold a massive list of certifications, enough to surpass Marvin Scruggs in certificates, but not in knowledge. Marvin, Sherry, and I clicked perfectly.

By 2014, I was making great money was extremely happy with my work. In June of 2014, Marvin sold Scruggs, much to our surprise. The new owners moved the business that weekend out of state, and Sherry and I went with them. Three months later, I could see they were not going to make it, so I left. The building Marvin had been in for over 30 years was sitting empty, so I rented it. I had one farmer loan me $5K to start the company, and on October 1st, 2014, Mineral Springs Ag was born. I started turning out the work by myself. The word got around quickly, and I knew the new owners of Scruggs Equipment were aware of the amount of work I was doing. Sure enough, in 2020, the new owners of Scruggs went out of business. The first thing I did was hire Sherry, and she even got her old office back when she back in. Mineral Springs Auto was kind of an accident. Another auto shop in town lost their license to perform NC vehicle inspections and had been closed for five years. I bought his equipment for pennies and added a bay door. When the DMV was inspecting bay, the agent said, "Hope you're ready to be busy; we've closed most stations down from here to the SC state line. You're it." Within 30 days, cars were lined up down the street, so I added two more bay doors and three more lifts. Now I have MS and MSA.
